Karina Nabors, Research Associate

Karina Nabors is a research associate contributing to AAAS Project 2061’s development of
curriculum and assessment resources aligned to K–12 science learning goals. She came to Project
2061 from California State University, Sacramento, where she taught environmental science for the
Department of Environmental Studies. Previously, Nabors taught introductory zoology for the Biology
Department at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento. Her experience also includes serving as an
ecology research assistant and teaching assistant at the University of California, Davis, and as
an immunology research technologist at Northwestern University. At the K–12 level, her background
includes co-teaching an urban environmental education curriculum for at-risk high school students
in Oakland, California. Nabors has published and presented her research in the fields of ecology
and immunology.
Nabors holds a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of California, Davis, and a B.A. in biology
from The Colorado College. She is a member of the Ecological Society of America, the Society of
Conservation Biology, and the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles.
