AAAS Science Textbook
Conference Series
Three conferences sponsored by AAAS Project 2061 were held
in recent years to focus on improving science textbooks
and curriculum. Scientists, teachers, researchers, curriculum
developers, textbook authors and publishers, and others
who joined these meetings addressed issues and policies
that affect the quality of materials used in the instruction
and assessment of students, as well as those related to
the professional development of teachers. The conferences
were held at the AAAS offices in Washington, D.C.
Conference attendees
produced reports, papers, and presentations, which are available
through the Web site links below. Interpretations and conclusions
in these reports are those of the authors and do not necessarily
represent the views of the AAAS or those of the conference
funders, the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the David
and Lucile Packard Foundation.
